BYD Plans to Establish Electric Vehicle Assembly Plant in Cambodia, Targeting 20,000 Vehicles Annually.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced on July 15th that he had met with Liu Xueliang, CEO of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division. BYD intends to invest in establishing an electric vehicle assembly plant in Cambodia, with a capacity to assemble 20,000 vehicles annually.

Hun Sen noted that besides serving the Cambodian market, BYD's electric vehicles assembled in Cambodia will also be exported to other countries and regions.

Currently, BYD operates automobile manufacturing and assembly plants in China, Thailand, and other locations. On July 4th, BYD's Thailand plant completed construction and began production with an annual capacity of approximately 150,000 vehicles.

In addition, Indonesian industrial park developer Suryacipta Swadaya announced on April 30th that BYD has selected the "Subang Smartpolitan" industrial park as the site for its electric vehicle factory. Spanning over 108 hectares, this makes BYD the largest tenant in the park, with operations expected to commence in January 2026.

In June 2024 alone, BYD reported total passenger car sales of 340,211 units, with exports reaching 26,995 units and cumulative exports totaling 203,404 units.
