GAC AION is speeding up its international expansion by sending the first 500 AION Y Plus vehicles to Indonesia. This move marks an important step in their plan to grow in Southeast Asia.

Southeast Asia is a key focus for GAC AION’s global strategy. After opening a new factory in Thailand on July 17, the company is now turning its attention to Indonesia. On July 26, they shipped 500 AION Y Plus vehicles from Semarang Port to Indonesia. This shipment represents a significant new phase in their efforts in the Indonesian market.

Indonesia is rich in resources and has a growing economy. It's the largest country by population and the biggest economy and car market in Southeast Asia, with the only million-unit car market in the region. Plus, it has abundant nickel resources, which are great for the growth of the new energy industry. In April this year, GAC AION entered the Indonesian market and signed a strategic partnership with the local automotive giant INDOMOBILE. This partnership covers everything from vehicle manufacturing to sales services, finance, energy, and the entire automotive supply chain.

To meet the high demand for electric vehicles in Indonesia, GAC AION is currently exporting vehicles while also building a local factory. This factory is expected to be up and running by the end of this year. Once operational, it will allow GAC AION to produce locally and offer more competitive products. The company plans to use its factories in Thailand and Indonesia to meet the needs of Southeast Asia and expand further globally. Besides the AION Y Plus, other models like the second-generation AION V may also come to Indonesia, offering even more high-value electric options to local consumers.

Since 2023, GAC AION has rapidly expanded internationally, entering 19 countries and regions in the first half of 2024. The company is also planning to enter markets like Qatar and Mexico. GAC AION will continue to advance its high-tech strategy, optimizing its global operations, and introducing cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. They aim to work with local partners to enhance the automotive supply chain and develop skilled professionals for the electric vehicle industry. In the future, GAC AION plans to build production and sales bases in Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, providing high-quality smart electric mobility options worldwide.
