July Export Data: In July, China exported 380,000 vehicles (including commercial ones), up 22% from last year and up 0.8% from June. From January to July, the total export volume reached 2.628 million vehicles, a 32.2% increase year-over-year.

Top 20 Models:

Tesla Model 3 reclaimed the top spot for exports, surpassing the Chirey Tiggo 7. The Seagull saw a massive 91% increase in exports and made its debut at number 17.

Chirey, Geely, BYD, and SAIC each have 4, 4, 3, and 3 models on the list, respectively. Haval, Changan, Volvo, Wuling, JAC, and Tesla each have 1 model.

Top 20 Brands:

Chirey has been the top Chinese car exporter for 7 consecutive months. MG has surpassed Geely to take second place. Geely fell 7.4% in exports, ranking third. Haval has moved past BYD to hold the fourth spot.

Tesla saw a 137% increase in exports due to the strong performance of the Model 3, moving up 4 spots to sixth. Changan, Jietu, and GAC Trumpchi saw their rankings drop.

Model Performance:

Tesla Model 3 exported over 20,000 units in July, up 156% from June, becoming the top-selling model again after 3 months.Chirey Tiggo 7 saw an 8% decrease in exports, dropping to second place. MG ZS exceeded 10,000 units, with a 50% increase, moving up 3 places.

Five models saw a decrease in exports: Chirey Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Omoda dropped by 15.3% and 21.3%. Song PLUS and Envision also fell by over 10%.

Seagull saw the biggest increase, making its debut at number 17. Boyue L exports rose 56%, Bin Yue up 38%, and MG3, JAC X8 PLUS, and Xingyue L all saw over 20% growth.

New Energy Vehicles:

Only 4 new energy vehicles made it into the top 20. Besides the Model 3, the other 3 are from BYD. Seal, Jietu Traveler, Emgrand, and Tiggo 3x dropped off the list, replaced by Seagull, Xingyue L, Boyue L, and Baojun 310.

Brand Updates:

Chirey's exports fell 7.7% in July but remains the top exporter.

MG held steady at around 32,000 units for 3 months, surpassing Geely for second place.

Geely dropped 7.4%, falling to third.

Exports from 10 brands declined, with GAC Trumpchi experiencing the largest drop of 42%, falling to 16th. Buick, Wuling, and Jietu also saw declines.

Outlook:

Starting July 4, the EU imposed temporary anti-subsidy taxes on Chinese electric cars, which caused declines in exports for Chirey, MG, and Geely. Overall, the EU tax had some impact but wasn’t overwhelmingly severe.
