On September 5, 2024, BYD, in collaboration with the Pilatus Group, officially launched three new all-electric models in Lusaka, Zambia. The new arrivals include the BYD ATTO 3, BYD SEAL, and BYD DOLPHIN, offering Zambian consumers a range of options from SUV to hatchback and sedan.

The unveiling event attracted significant attention from local media, industry experts, and automotive enthusiasts. Each model features BYD’s advanced blade battery technology, ensuring high safety standards and impressive range. This launch marks a major step for BYD in expanding its green and innovative transportation solutions in the Zambian market.

To enhance its market presence, BYD has also placed prominent advertisements at Lusaka International Airport and surrounding roads. Additionally, the company opened its first Zambian showroom at Foxdale Court Mall, a leading eco-friendly shopping center, which includes Zambia’s first 60-kilowatt fast-charging station for electric vehicles.

Steve Chang, General Manager of BYD South Africa and Regional Director for Southern Africa, emphasized, “This launch is a significant milestone for BYD as we bring cutting-edge green technology to Zambia and continue to drive the growth of the electric vehicle industry in Africa.”

Tue Nyboe Andersen, Founder of Pilatus Electricity Mobility, expressed excitement about the launch, stating, “After years of dedication, we are proud to see BYD’s exceptional products finally available in Zambia. This is a major achievement for us.”

With this expansion, BYD’s presence in Africa now spans 10 countries and regions. The company plans to further its reach across the continent, increasing its service network to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles.
