On September 25, 2024, BYD held a ceremony at its Shenshan factory to mark the production of its 9 millionth new energy vehicle, the Yangwang U9, a high-performance electric supercar. BYD has become the first automaker globally to reach this impressive milestone, setting a significant benchmark for the Chinese automotive industry. Notably, it took just over two months since the production of the 8 millionth vehicle, showcasing BYD's rapid progress in the new energy sector.

In 2024, BYD's vehicle sales reached new heights, with 1.607 million new energy passenger cars sold in the first half of the year, maintaining its position as the world's leading manufacturer of electric vehicles. Yangwang, BYD's premium new energy brand, continues to make strides in elevating its brand status and has shown remarkable growth in the domestic market.

The 9 millionth vehicle, the Yangwang U9, is a standout in the Chinese automotive industry, combining groundbreaking technology, exceptional performance, top-tier craftsmanship, and high quality. It offers a new electric supercar experience, marking a brilliant chapter in the history of Chinese supercars.

The Yangwang U9 officially began deliveries in August 2024. With advanced technologies such as Yisifang and Yunliang-X, along with other breakthroughs in the new energy field, the U9 introduces innovative experiences in supercar performance and racing culture. Its outstanding quality is the foundation for delivering unparalleled experiences and precise driving control.

To meet the high performance and quality standards of the U9, Yangwang has established a dedicated factory in Shenshan, making it the first exclusive factory for new energy supercars in China. The U9 is also the first mass-produced model in the country to utilize carbon fiber body structure components, featuring the largest single-shell carbon tub globally, with a strength 5 to 6 times that of steel.

To ensure production quality, the U9's carbon tub requires strict standards for both the production environment and worker skills. A 2,000 square meter cleanroom with controlled humidity and temperature was built specifically for carbon tub production, staffed by highly skilled workers, including many from BYD’s award-winning craftsman program. Additionally, the integration of intelligent assembly processes helps guarantee the precise assembly of each vehicle.

Every milestone reached in production is a testament to BYD's ability to push the boundaries of speed in China. As a premium brand under BYD, Yangwang is leveraging technology to create luxury vehicles and embarking on a new journey for high-end new energy brands in China.
