GAC Group has signed a strategic partnership with VEMO, a clean technology company in Mexico. Under this agreement, VEMO will provide public charging infrastructure for GAC's electric vehicles in Mexico. The goal of this partnership is to support GAC’s electric vehicle growth in the country.
Last November, GAC introduced its new GS8 and EMZOOM models in Mexico City, officially entering the Mexican market. Recently, GAC announced plans to launch five electric vehicles and two plug-in hybrid models in Mexico, including the M8, AION Y Plus electric SUV, and AION S electric sedan. These new models aim to further expand electric vehicle adoption in the country.
VEMO’s “Watts by VEMO” app helps users find charging stations, select chargers, make payments, and monitor charging sessions. VEMO is committed to promoting clean transportation in Mexico and Latin America, offering a range of services including electric vehicle sales, charging infrastructure, data services, fleet management, and more.
VEMO’s Co-founder and CEO, Roberto Rocha, said: “Partnering with GAC is a key step in our mission to drive clean transportation. Together, we will make electric vehicles a more accessible and sustainable choice for everyone.”
Co-founder and President, Germán Losada, added: “Thanks to this partnership, GAC’s electric vehicle users will have access to our extensive public charging network across Mexico, making charging easier and helping improve air quality in our cities.”
Rafe Huang, President of GAC Mexico, announced the launch of the AION series in Mexico. He also revealed that the first 100 customers will enjoy one year of free charging at over 550 VEMO charging stations nationwide, marking a significant step toward innovation and sustainability.
