The 22nd Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition will open soon, bringing global carmakers together to showcase the latest in automotive innovation. This event, running from November 15 to 24 at the Canton Fair Complex, comes in a key year for China’s “14th Five-Year Plan.” With supportive government policies in place, such as those promoting the development of new energy vehicles (NEVs), smart cars, and efficient engines, the auto industry in China is primed for continued growth.

Since its start in 2003, the Guangzhou Auto Show has focused on “New Technology, New Life,” offering an international platform for carmakers from China and abroad. This year’s show spans 220,000 square meters and is set to once again serve as a barometer for China’s auto market trends.

NEVs Lead the Way

President Xi Jinping has emphasized the need for high-quality growth through innovation, and the auto industry is no exception. In 2023, China’s auto production exceeded 30 million vehicles, with NEVs making up more than 9 million units, leading the world in both production and sales for nine consecutive years. At this year’s show, 512 of the 1,171 vehicles on display will be NEVs, highlighting the country’s commitment to electric and smart vehicle development.

Top Global and Domestic Brands Showcasing Full Lineups

Leading global automakers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Audi, and Ford will join the event alongside prominent Chinese brands like Hongqi, SAIC, GAC, Changan, Chery, and BYD. Additionally, popular Chinese EV makers such as NIO, XPeng, Li Auto, and Zeekr will showcase their latest technologies and products. Luxury brands like Porsche, Lamborghini, and Bentley will also be present, providing an exciting experience for visitors.

Full Industry Chain on Display

The 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show goes beyond passenger vehicles, offering a complete look at the auto industry. The commercial vehicle exhibition will feature smart trucks, hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks, and electric logistics vehicles, reflecting the high-quality growth in this sector. An industry chain and cultural exhibit will display technologies like electric motors, energy storage, and intelligent cockpits. A special cultural exhibit in the South Plaza will showcase classic car models to enrich the automotive experience for all attendees.

Industry Conferences to Shape the Future

Alongside the show, the 2024 Guangzhou Automotive Development Summit will take place on November 15-16, gathering government, industry, and technology leaders to discuss the future of the global auto industry. The Automotive Innovation Conference, themed “Collaboration and Innovation,” will occur on November 16, with a focus on the international expansion of Chinese auto brands and supply chain cooperation.

The Guangzhou International Auto Show continues to foster open collaboration and innovation. As the event opens, it invites global carmakers, media, and industry professionals to come together and witness the new era of the auto market.
