Guangxi Government’s Support for Belt and Road Cooperation
Before the ceremony, SGMW executives presented Wuling Indonesia's progress to Chairman Lan Tianli. The Chairman commended Wuling for its accomplishments in product innovation, brand building, and system development, noting its alignment with China's "Belt and Road" initiative. He emphasized the importance of leveraging technological advancements, fostering collaboration, and maintaining a leadership role in advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation through the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector.
Guangxi's Secretary-General Zhong Dezhi and Commerce Director Yang Chunting also highlighted Wuling's role as a flagship enterprise, recognizing its contributions to industrial integration, job creation, and vocational education in Indonesia.
Wuling: A Pioneer in Indonesia’s New Energy Market
Since its establishment in 2017, Wuling Indonesia has introduced nine popular models, created over 20,000 local jobs, and attracted 17 Chinese suppliers to establish operations in Indonesia. Transitioning to NEVs, Wuling launched three flagship models—Air EV, Bingo EV, and Cloud EV—that captured the market’s attention. Together, these models have propelled Wuling to hold over 50% of Indonesia’s electric vehicle market share, with cumulative NEV sales exceeding 27,000 units.
Wuling's NEVs have graced global stages like the G20 and ASEAN Summits, showcasing the brand’s impact and Indonesia’s growing role in the NEV ecosystem. By partnering with the Indonesian government, Wuling continues to contribute to the development of standardized EV industry practices and infrastructure.
Towards a Future of Electrification
The production of the 160,000th vehicle symbolizes SGMW's commitment to innovation and global collaboration. By leveraging Indonesia as its RHD production base, Wuling aims to optimize integration across Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, expand into ASEAN and other RHD markets, and build a comprehensive NEV ecosystem.
With the global automotive industry transitioning toward electrification and intelligence, Wuling is poised to lead with advanced NEV technologies and solutions. As a pioneer of Chinese automakers going global, Wuling is setting a benchmark for the international expansion of Chinese-made NEVs, providing sustainable solutions that benefit both Indonesia and the global market.
Through sustained efforts in innovation, local integration, and strategic partnerships, Wuling is contributing to the shared vision of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation while paving the way for a greener future in ASEAN and beyond.
