The 2024 Understanding China International Conference, held in Guangzhou, brought together politicians, scholars, industry leaders, and representatives of global organizations to explore the global significance of China's modernization. During the event, China's rapidly growing NEV (New Energy Vehicle) industry drew considerable attention. As a leader in Guangzhou's NEV sector, GAC Aion served as a key window into China's technological advancements.
From December 4 to 5, distinguished guests including Marcus Stephen, former President and current Speaker of Nauru; Andrey Bystritsky, Chairman of Russia's Valdai Club; and Jhala Nath Khanal, former Prime Minister of Nepal, visited GAC Aion. They toured the world’s only NEV Lighthouse Factory and SSR supercar production line, gaining a hands-on understanding of GAC Aion’s cutting-edge technology and experiencing why it ranks among the world’s top three pure electric brands.
Exploring Breakthrough Innovations
During the visit, GAC Aion showcased several pioneering technologies. As the first automaker to fully develop both EV and ICV technologies in-house, it has introduced industry-first innovations such as its dedicated electric platform, high-power Quark Drive technology, and the Starling architecture supporting Level 4 autonomous driving.
The dignitaries were particularly impressed by the company’s proprietary Magazine Battery technology, which offers protection against fire and even gunfire. Speaker Marcus Stephen repeatedly nodded in approval, praising the engineering behind this safety innovation.
Additionally, GAC Aion’s vertically integrated approach, with in-house R&D and production of core components like batteries, motors, and control systems, as well as its closed-loop energy ecosystem, was recognized as a unique advantage in the global market.
Efficiency Meets Precision
In the assembly workshop, Nepal’s former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal was captivated by the efficiency of GAC Aion’s intelligent eco-factory, snapping pictures of robotic arms working seamlessly and cars rolling off the production line every 53 seconds. As China’s first factory dedicated to pure electric vehicles, the facility integrates digitalization across every stage—from R&D to production and logistics—delivering both high efficiency and premium quality. Recognized as the world’s only NEV Lighthouse Factory, it represents a new benchmark for smart manufacturing.
High Praise for Global Strategic Models
The leaders also test-drove GAC Aion’s global strategic models, sharing their positive impressions. Speaker Marcus Stephen was drawn to the sleek design, spacious interior, and intelligent features of the Aion UT, calling it “Cool.” Meanwhile, the newly launched Aion RT, equipped with advanced lidar technology for autonomous driving, became a highlight. Chairman Bystritsky examined the vehicle’s technology in detail, and former Prime Minister Khanal praised its innovation, calling it “remarkable.” Guinea’s Ambassador expressed interest in bringing the high-end Aion RT to the Guinean market.
Accelerating Global Expansion
GAC Aion is rapidly expanding its presence in international markets. In just six months, the company has successfully entered 19 countries, including Nepal, setting a new standard for Chinese brands going global. With its three global strategic models and outstanding product quality, Aion achieved sales of over 42,000 units in November, cementing its position among the world’s top three pure electric brands.
Looking ahead, GAC Aion plans to launch more models in overseas markets, fueling its global growth.
Guided by GAC Group’s Three-Year Panyu Action Plan, GAC Aion remains committed to its “Advanced, Trendy, and High-Quality” brand philosophy. By strengthening its R&D and manufacturing capabilities and expanding its market presence, GAC Aion not only showcases China’s NEV strength on the world stage but also contributes innovative solutions to the global automotive industry.
